Detroit Motor Show 2015: Ford GT

Ford has surprised everyone by showing off their latest car is all-new Ford GT at this year's Detroit Motor Show, with a wild appearance and powertrain which will inevitably lead to controversy.

The first thing that just has to be discussed about this new GT though, is the appearance. Ford has made several design cues GT / GT40 keys, but the new model is about as modern as the design of the car get.

Very influenced by the aerodynamic performance, far more than even McLaren P1, the new GT is a riot intake, swept, and ventilation panel resulted in a fantastic looking car that is guaranteed to turn heads even in most locations such as Kensington hypercar filled float, Dubai and Monaco.

There are recognizable on the front end GT40-esque, with a matte carbon splitter and canards floating on the side, with two vents for radiators deducted from the hood. It is flanked by a couple looking for lights that are very complex, while at the top of the screen sit the cover, just like the original. And from that point that things are more or less in 1965 and 2015 though.

The cockpit wraps driver and passenger then returned to the engine bay, with bodywork extending over the rear wheel, creating an aerodynamic tunnel on the side of a car and aero blades to direct the air aliranan. In the back of the car there is a part of this area come out for air under the large rear wing moves. Inside the rear light shaped 'ring' that vents to the intercooler, another neat touch. In this case a simple but effective, with Ferrari steering wheel style housing all the major controls, the driver and the front screen in the center dash.

Powertrain which certainly caused a lot of discussion though. Most would expect the V8 or V12 in a car that looks like this, but Ford will be the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, producing more than 600 bhp via a seven-speed double-clutch gearbox to the rear wheels. The reason behind the engine options, especially to packaging - EcoBoost engine is lighter than the V8 and when combined with all-carbon body provides a low curb weight of around 1,250 kg so that the performance should be outstanding.

Technically to build a concept, so things like the door mirrors will change for production, but this is pretty much the car will be sold in 2016 for around £ 150,000.
